2 hours wedding photography can be enough, but it really depends on what you want from your wedding photos.
I offer 2 hours coverage as a very simple, minimal option for couples who don’t feel they need full day photography, but still want those key moments captured professionally.
A note on minimum coverage: I keep 2 hours as my minimum coverage, as anything shorter than this doesn’t allow enough time to capture things in a relaxed, natural way without rushing.
Even within these 2 hours, I’ll always guide things gently so it still feels calm and enjoyable, so you can actually enjoy the moment rather than feeling like everything is squeezed in and like everything needs to happen all at once.
What 2 hours of coverage can realistically include
With 2 hours, we’re usually focusing on one core part of the day, so it’s less about trying to fit everything in, and more about choosing what matters most to you and what part of the day you want captured.
This might be:
- Your ceremony and a short drinks reception afterwards
- Or having me arrive just after the ceremony, starting at confetti and including your couples portraits and a few group photos during cocktail hour
- Or even a later start, covering the end of your drinks reception with your couples portraits, through to speeches if timings are close together
Because every wedding flows slightly differently, we would always plan this together in advance so that your time feels relaxed and intentional, rather than rushed or overly structured.
The key with shorter coverage is being realistic about timings and allowing enough space for things to naturally unfold. Even something simple like guests congratulating you after the ceremony can take longer than expected, so building that in makes a big difference.
I’ll always guide you on how your timeline could look so you still get a really lovely mix of moments, even within a shorter window. It’s never about cramming things in, but making the most of the time you do have.
Who 2 hours is perfect for
This option tends to suit couples who:
- Are planning a smaller or more low-key wedding
- Don’t feel they need full day coverage
- Mainly want some beautiful couple photos and a few family images
- Or simply don’t want to look back and wish they had nothing captured professionally
It’s often chosen by couples who are quite relaxed about photography overall, but still really value having a small set of natural, professional images to remember the day by.
It can also be a great option if your plans are very simple, or if you’re having a shorter celebration where full-day coverage wouldn’t really add anything extra.
The main thing is knowing you’ll still have those key moments captured properly, without overcommitting to something you don’t feel you need.

What 2 hours coverage doesn’t include
Because of the shorter timeframe, 2 hours won’t cover the full flow of the day, and it’s important to be really clear on that so there are no surprises with your gallery expectations afterwards.
There’s no getting ready coverage, no extended guest moments, and no full story from start to finish. Instead, it’s about capturing a meaningful part of your day, knowing that other moments will simply go undocumented professionally.
That doesn’t make it any less special, it just means your gallery will feel more like a highlight of a specific part of the day rather than a full narrative from beginning to end.
For some couples, that’s absolutely enough, especially if you’re not prioritising photography or documenting every detail. It’s all about what feels right for you.
Keeping it simple
Sometimes you don’t need full-day coverage to still have a beautiful gallery to look back on. If your priority is having a collection of lovely couple photos and a handful of formal family photos, 2 hours coverage is a really simple way to do that.
If all you really want is a handful of beautiful couple photos and a few relaxed family images, having those captured professionally can make such a difference. It means you’re not relying on phones, rushed snapshots, or asking guests to step in, and instead you can simply enjoy your day knowing those moments are taken care of.
For some couples, this balance can be exactly what you’re looking for. 2 hours can easily be all that’s needed to capture your wedding without adding more photography coverage to your day that you don’t feel you need.
