As a Christian myself, photographing church weddings holds a deeper meaning for me beyond just the beauty of the building. My faith is a big part of my life, and over the past few years my husband and I have come to faith together, becoming part of our local church, attending weekly with our children and building our lives and marriage with Jesus at the centre.
Having experienced the difference Jesus has made in our own lives, I know how much deeper a wedding can feel when God sits at the centre of it.
Because of that, I understand how important a Christian wedding ceremony is, not just as a moment in the day, but as a commitment before God. I approach church weddings with a calm and respectful presence, capturing each part of the service naturally while allowing the focus to remain exactly where it should be.
A relaxed approach to capturing your wedding day
Every church and ceremony is slightly different and every vicar has a different tolerance for photography/videography coverage, so I’m always mindful of working respectfully within each setting. Whether there are specific guidelines or a more relaxed approach, I blend into the background to capture the key moments quietly and without disruption (minimal gear, silent shutter & no flash!)
For me, it’s not just about the visuals of a church wedding, but the meaning behind it. The anticipation before the ceremony, the significance of the vows, and the emotion throughout the service are all moments that deserve to be documented in a way that feels genuine and uninterupted.
Outside of the ceremony, the rest of the day is approached in the same way as all of my weddings, relaxed, natural and unobtrusive. I’ll gently guide you during couple portraits so everything feels easy and comfortable, but the majority of the day is captured as it naturally unfolds.
I also offer wedding videography alongside photography for couples who would like to capture both the visual and emotional moments of their day in a consistent, natural style.
